We caught up with Mingus Union High School's Cesar Diaz to talk about his season so far and what he's doing to prepare for the Desert Twilight XC Festival.
Coverage
It took us a couple weeks but we did indeed catch up with Yorba Linda (SS) senior Siena Palicke, who was the No. 4 CA high school runner at the Oct. 2 Desert Twilight XC Festival held on the 5K course at The Links at Queen Creek on the outskirts of Phoenix. This was the second "summer rules" race for Palicke, who competes for Quick Track Club, following an early September rust-buster in San Antonio. Palicke's time during the COVID-19 shutdown of official CIF competition was spent training, working at a pizza restaurant and also locking down her future, announcing a commitment to UCLA where she said she plans to study biology. Palicke has one more "summer" race on her schedule, Oct. 23 in Gilbert, Arizona, before taking a short break before ramping training back up in preparation for the delayed 2020-21 CIF cross country season expected to begin at the end of December and run through late March. Palicke has twice placed third in Division 3 at the Southern Section championships and last year placed fourth in D-III at the State Meet. Enjoy our chat with Siena Palicke.
